[07/11/2025 05:02]

DOHA – SABA
Prime Minister Salem Saleh bin Buraik has concluded his visit to Doha, during which he participated in the Second World Summit on Social Development, organized by the United Nations and the State of Qatar.

The visit included a series of bilateral meetings and discussions addressing prospects for joint cooperation and efforts to support Yemen’s path of reform and economic recovery.

The Prime Minister held extensive talks with his Qatari counterpart Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, who also serves as Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The two parties reviewed the strong fraternal relations between their countries and discussed ways to develop them in areas such as economy, development, infrastructure, energy, education and health.

They also addressed the latest developments in Yemen, the government’s efforts to implement economic and administrative reforms and measures to alleviate the humanitarian suffering caused by houthi terrorist militia's triggered war.

On the sidelines of the summit, the Prime Minister met with Dr. Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al-Misnad, Minister of State for International Cooperation and Vice-Chairperson of the Qatar Fund for Development.

The two parties discussed prospects for developmental and humanitarian cooperation and ways to enhance the contribution of Qatari programs and projects in supporting the government’s plans for recovery and institutional reform.

Both emphasized the importance of establishing a new approach to effective partnership and shared responsibility to ensure efficiency and transparency in implementing development projects.

In his address to the summit, the Prime Minister reaffirmed Yemen’s commitment to the principles of social justice, equal opportunity, and economic empowerment.

He stressed that social development represents an investment in people — the foundation and ultimate goal of all development efforts.

He also reviewed the government’s ongoing reforms aimed at achieving economic and social stability, and called for alleviating the debt burdens of least developed countries and increasing official development assistance directed toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

As part of his participation in the summit, the Prime Minister also met with his Egyptian counterpart, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly.

The two discussed the strong fraternal ties between their countries and peoples, explored ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various fields, and affirmed shared positions on regional issues, particularly concerning the security of the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

They also discussed avenues for benefiting from Egyptian expertise in energy, capacity building and improving the performance of government institutions, in addition to addressing the situation of the Yemeni community in Egypt.

Both sides agreed on the importance of reactivating the Yemeni–Egyptian Higher Joint Committee as soon as possible and enhancing investment partnerships between business sectors in both countries.
