ADEN - SABA
His Excellency (HE) President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, urged religious scholars, mosques' speakers and preachers to promote a contemporary religious discourse and culture that help to mobilize resources and join efforts to serve the national interest of the Yemeni people and their central causes, which are embodied in restoring the state's institutions, eliminate Houthi militias' coup, fighting terrorism of its different forms and stimulate the development efforts.

He said " We consider the mission of the religious scholars and preachers is greater than preaching and guiding, we do view you as thinkers and social reformists at the same time".

He made his statements during his meeting today, Sunday, in the temporary capital Aden, with the reverend religious preachers and mosques' orators.

HE touched upon Yemen as one of the most significant centers of the Islamic religious thought and schools that must serve as a reverence to learn from its tradition that is based on diversity and innovation.

HE stressed that it is very important for the religious scholars nowadays to follow suit the good predecessors religious thinkers and leading figures, but shouldn't be dogmatists. At the same time, they need to be innovators and reformists, but not irreligious.

"It is important to try to reform the society and to maintain its traditional values, but that shouldn't stand an obstruction to changing and modernizing", he said.

The Chairman of the PLC urged the preachers and mosques' orators to focus on family coherence, fighting corruption, coexistence and social peace.

He said " When people respect the rule of law and the state's institutions, social peace becomes better".

The President urged the preachers and the mosques' speakers to refrain from promoting a divisive religious discourse.
He said " Everybody must renounce a sectarian, tribal or provincial division".

" Worship houses 'mosques', should never be engaged in political disputes", HE warned.

HE stressed that religious discourse should be concentrating on the concept of justice in its entire dimensions: politically, socially and economically.

He said " when it comes to criticize the Terrorist Houthi militias, that must be based on the concept of justice and equal citizenship, but not only because they " Houthis" talk bad about the prophet's reverend companions, the criticism must be because they want to impose a sectarian-racist governance based on unsounded and wrong beliefs" .

The PLC's Chairman highlighted the danger of the extremist and terrorist groups who reject moderation and modernization and violate the Islamic religious values, committing crimes of killing, plundering and destructing, first of all the Terrorist Houthi militias.
