ADEN - SABA
Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Rashad Mohammed al-Alimi Tuesday with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Sheikh Sultan al-Barakani, and members of the Council's Presidency Mohammed al-Shaddadi and Mohsen Basura.
This meeting is part of presidential consultations regarding the latest developments in the political, economic and service sectors, as well as coordinated efforts with all authorities to alleviate the humanitarian suffering exacerbated by the Houthi militia's terrorist attacks on oil facilities and shipping vessels, supported by the Iranian regime.
During the meeting, the President briefed the Speaker of the House and the members of the Council Presidency on the overall developments in the local arena, as well as the governmental policies and measures taken to fulfill the state’s obligations, including the payment of salaries, sustaining essential services, and enhancing readiness for the battle to restore national institutions and overthrow the coup.
He emphasized that this meeting reflects a shared commitment to strengthen communication between the authorities and to keep pace with the requirements of the current phase, given the exceptional circumstances imposed by the war of the Houthi militias and the terrorist organizations allied with them.
He clarified that these meetings primarily aim to inform all authorities and national components about the developments and intertwined challenges of the current phase.
He noted that the economic situation remains the most significant challenge today, as the state faces one of the toughest funding crises ever.
The President addressed the repercussions of the halt in oil exports on humanitarian conditions, service projects, and investment programs, along with proposed plans to turn these crises into opportunities and mobilize all resources for developing self-sustained resources.
"The Presidential Leadership Council is keen to work with the government to restore income sources and diversify resources, with the assistance of brothers and friends, and to work on the principles of transparency and governance in all governmental dealings," he said.
The President pointed out the Council's commitment to being transparent with everyone regarding the challenges of this phase, stating: "the real threat to the cohesion of our republican alliance is not the internal disagreements, as some platforms suggest, but the responsible response to the needs and aspirations of the citizens."
He added: "We manage our disagreements with much wisdom and realism within the framework of the agreed-upon parameters and partnership included in the transitional references, and we will, with God's help, work with the same wisdom to address financial deficit and develop resources on the path of our joint plans for self-reliance and to enhance trust with the donor community."
The President also discussed the security situation and its challenges with the escalation of criminal activities by the Houthi militias and the terrorist organizations cooperating with them.
He confirmed that the security and military apparatuses have carried out qualitative operations and achieved significant breakthroughs against terrorist cells linked to Al-Qaeda and ISIS, with explicit support from the Houthi militias.
He emphasized that confronting this front requires everyone, especially representatives of the people, to adopt a firm national discourse in the face of existential threats.
He also reiterated his commitment to establishing a national partnership with all political forces and rejecting any exclusionary rhetoric or hints at marginalizing any national component.
The President expressed astonishment at some misleading interpretations attempting to portray the Consultation and Reconciliation Committee as a substitute for the House of Representatives, stating that this interpretation is incorrect and has no relation to the constitutional text and the contents of the power transfer declaration, which clearly stated that the Consultation Committee is a supportive body for the Presidential Leadership Council, and that legislative and oversight tasks are the sole prerogative of the legislative authority.
Regarding the regional situation, the President affirmed the Council and the government's commitment to embodying the Yemeni people's stance against the Iranian regime and ensuring that Yemeni territory is not used as a platform to threaten international peace and security.
He reiterated the national constants in working closely with the brothers in the Coalition to Support Legitimacy and engaging with international and regional partners in all that serves the Yemeni people's cause and achieves their aspirations for restoring state institutions, whether through peace or war.
The President listened to a briefing from the Speaker of the House regarding the Council's activities in the past period, the work of its presidency and its specialized committees in monitoring the performance of the executive authority and the general conditions in the country.
The leadership of the House of Representatives emphasized the importance of enabling the government to access sovereign resources and commended its ongoing efforts to prepare final accounts and the general state budget.
The Speaker and members of the House leadership affirmed the need to mobilize all resources and efforts to address the economic crisis and mitigate its humanitarian repercussions on citizens and their basic services.
They also emphasized the House of Representatives' commitment to supporting the efforts of the Presidential Leadership Council and the government, expressing parliamentary appreciation for the positions of the coalition's brothers in supporting legitimacy led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia alongside the Yemeni people and its constitutional institutions.
The meeting underscored the importance of convening the House of Representatives to exercise its legislative and oversight powers over the performance of the executive authority, enhancing its presence in the national battle against the Imamate agenda, and supporting efforts to combat corruption and terrorism.
