The retreat of Houthis from a previous decision they had taken to free Bahai minority leaders in Sana'a jails reveals the militia's habit of breaking pledges, Yemen's Information Minister said on Monday.

The bigoted theocratic militia still hold the leader of the Bahai minority Hamed Haydarah and other affiliates to the Bahai faith "despite the announcement of the militia's self-styled Political Council chairman Mahdi al-Mashat three months ago that the charges against them would be dropped and they would be freed," said Muammar al-Eryani.

"The announcement of dropping the death sentences and releasing the detainees was just a pretense."

Al-Eryani said the militants "abducted the Bahai people from their houses disappeared them and subjected them to all sorts of torture in the jails and then sentenced them to execution on account of their religious beliefs."

He called on the international community and UN Security Council permanent embers to take a clear and forthright stand against these "violations and racist crimes."
