The Minister of Planning and International Cooperation in the caretaker government, Dr. Najeeb Al-Awj, discussed today with the European Union Ambassador the arrangements for the next meeting of senior humanitarian officials on Yemen to be hosted by the European Union and the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 12 - 13 November 2020.
In a videocall with the EU diplomat, Dr. Al-Awj expressed the Yemeni government's appreciation of the EU’s role as a major and effective partner in supporting the political process, humanitarian response and partnership in the development process.
The government is always looking for more cooperation in areas of common interest in order to enhance political dialogue and trade economic and development cooperation, responding to humanitarian needs and encouraging reform and nation-building processes.
He touched upon the challenges facing the relief work in Yemen, foremost of which are the Houthi militia’s hindrances to delivering relief humanitarian aid to those who deserve it, in addition to technical difficulties and shortcomings and flaws with the UN counterpart organizations.
