His Excellency Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) underlined the announcement of the establishment of the Multinational Naval Defense Alliance led by Saudi Arabia, describing this move as a strategic initiative and a very important step to boost collective security, protect international navigation and secure vital sea routes in the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

President issues directives for setting up Saba University and Marib Airport

President Abdu R. Mansour Hadi has directed the government to allocate funds for studying the establishment and implementing of Saba Federal Region University as part next year's state budget.

The president issued the directives upon a meeting with the governor of Marib Sultan al-Arradah who briefed the president on the latest military and general status in the province.

The president also directed the competent government authorities to: begin implement the Marib Airport project, given the fact that Marib is a mid-point between several provinces and of significant tourist and economic importance; finalize the second phase of Marib-Safer-Quweirban 90km-long road project; allocate funds to launch Saba Region radio and TV channels; get the courts back in full scale function to resolve daily issues; and finally directed the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation to follow up on the Saudi grants for the repair of the sanitary system in Marib.

The president hailed the people of Marib for "defending the nation" saying they recorded their heroic sacrifices in the brightest pages of history.
