DUBAI-SABA
Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed bin Mubarak restated that peace is the only single strategic option of the internationally recognized Yemeni government and Yemen, noting that Yemen and the region need security, stability, an end of the Yemeni people's suffering, ending the war.
He made his comment today, Tuesday, during his contribution to the Arab Media Forum sessions held in Dubai.
In his contribution to the plenary dialogue session of the Arab Media Form, the Prime Minister talked about the Yemeni crisis dimensions and peace prospects.
He emphatically stressed that the grass root of current Yemen's dilemma is Houthi militia's coup d'état against the official government and the militia-triggered war.
" It is very important to understand that the grass root of Yemen's crisis is Houthi militia's coup and the war it triggered. This is the core of the problem, unless the grass root of the crisis is well understood, and address, it is hard to re-establish security and stability in Yemen, crises will be repeated, development and stability will never be achieved", said bin Mubarak.
The Prime Minister made it clear that Yemen's problem basically is political.
The problem can only be solved by eliminating the coup, restoring the state's institutions.
He blamed the international community for looking to the Yemeni crisis from humanitarian perspective only.
He said " One key reason that led to prolonging the war in Yemen is characterizing the problem as a humanitarian one, refraining from handling the core of the problem, that is actually political, dealing with its humanitarian consequences", adding " Absolutely, the humanitarian effects are disastrous and every Yemeni citizen's life is very important, however, these consequences are not a product of a natural disaster, its real reason are very well known".
The Prime Minister talked about the peace future in Yemen, citing the peace proposals over the previous years, regional and international efforts aimed to bring peace, blamed Houthi militias for blocking the peace efforts.
" There were several peace initiatives and consolations, it happened that we were close to a peace plan, but Houthi militias have repeatedly escaped, simply because the decision of the war is not made by the militia it is rather related to the Iranian regime". Said bin Mubark.
