The head of the National Enquiry Commission to Investigate Allegations of Human Rights Violations, Judge Ahmed Al-Muflahi, discussed today, in the interim capital, Aden, with the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Mohsen Talib, developments in human rights, cooperation in the field of law enforcement and limiting violations.
The meeting discussed the follow-up steps for establishing a court and a prosecution specialized in human rights violations, which the commission has completed investigating into, and procedures for the judicial formation of the courts and prosecution offices of Hodeidah governorate, and the judicial activity of Taiz governorate, in order to reduce the backlog of cases and overcrowding in prisons and detention centers.
The head of the National Commission of Inquiry reviewed the most important results of the committee’s visits and its visits to (12) prisons and detention centers, in which more than 2,300 detainees and prisoners are located in the governorates (Marib, Taiz, Al-Dhale’e, Shabwa, Hadramout, and Al-Hodeidah), and the most important proposals related to activating the judiciary, speedy consideration and adjudication of cases, and the role of the Supreme Judicial Council in achieving them. .
