Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Dr. Mohammed al-Zaouri met today, Tuesday, in the temporary capital Aden with a delegation from the European Commission headed by Andrias Babcostenteneo.
The session aimed to discuss a number of topics including cooperation between the Yemeni government and the European Commission about relief and humanitarian actions and government's efforts to handle the significant topical issues.
Al-Zaouri provided a detailed presentation about the basic services situations, pressing needs and challenges; highlighting the need for sustainable development projects in the areas of education, health, water and electricity.
The Minister noted that over 80 percent of the population are living under poverty line and unemployment percentage is over 60 percent.
The European official stated that the European Commission is keen to establish active coordination and partnership with the Yemeni government and it is going to work on mobilizing the donors' support for the development projects and the relief and humanitarian actions in Yemen.
