Al-Aradah Hails Graduation of Air Defense College Cadets as Milestone in Rebuilding Armed Forces

Gov't calls on European countries to ban sale of Yemeni antiquities in auctions

The Yemeni government called on friendly countries in Europe to prevent commercial entities from selling Yemeni antiquities at auctions in a number of European cities.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, in a statement that the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) received a copy of, that it had observed that some commercial agencies offered some Yemeni artifacts for sale in a number of European cities, directing the concerned embassies to communicate with the ministries of foreign affairs in the concerned countries to prevent this.

And the ministry demanded that these pieces be handed over to the Yemeni competent authorities, as they are Yemeni antiquities that no one has the right to dispose of in any way, noting that it is studying all available options and ways to recover these pieces as a right of the Yemeni people that cannot be relinquished.

The ministry called on friendly countries in Europe to prevent the commercial agencies that announced the sale of Yemeni antiquities in auctions to stop these procedures, and to understand the extreme sensitivity and complete refusal of the Yemeni government and the Yemeni people to sell any piece of Yemeni antiquities, due to its close connection with the ancient Yemeni civilization and its glorious history.
