Al-Shamasi discusses with UN delegates response to Safer risks

Deputy Minister of Oil and Minerals, Dr. Saeed Al-Shammasi, discussed with UNDP officials the technical aspects of the national response plan to avoid the Safer tanker disaster and a mechanism of action.

In a meeting held in Aden today, They discussed strengthening joint efforts between the government and the United Nations team to confront the risks and challenges arising from the leakage of raw materials in the tanker.

The Deputy Minister confirmed that the ministry from the first moment focused efforts on getting rid of the crude estimated at one million barrels through complete emptying of the tanker to reduce the occurrence of the disaster.

He pointed out that the catastrophic damage caused by the leakage of the tanker includes the marine environment, vital facilities and wealth. fishing and agricultural activities, as well as parts of the land of the countries bordering the Red Sea.
