The only goal of the match was scored by German Lukas Nmecha from a penalty kick in the 84th minute.
With this victory, Leeds collected their first three points in the championship before heading out in the next round to face Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium next Saturday, while Everton begins a new era with its first match at Hill Dickinson Stadium against Brighton on Sunday.
