UNOPS Discusses Development Interventions with Mahrah Local Officials

MAHRAH - SABA
The Secretary-General of Mahrah Local Council, Salem Nimr, met with a delegation from the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), led by Engineer Fayad Rasool, to discuss development interventions in the governorate.

The meeting reviewed ongoing and planned projects, including the installation of solar energy systems in Al-Ghaydah Hospital and support for Qishn Hospital and the Civil Defense.

The UNOPS delegation expressed commitment to considering local authority feedback to improve project implementation.
Mahrah officials emphasized the need for continued support and expanded interventions, particularly in sectors affected by cyclones and tropical storms, which have damaged infrastructure.

The local authorities highlighted urgent needs, including providing solar-powered pumps and rehabilitating water networks.

The UNOPS delegation assured that the organization would take local authority suggestions into account to enhance future project implementation and overcome challenges.
