Chief of the General Staff and Commander of Joint Operations, Lieutenant General Dr. Saghir bin Aziz, discussed with the US Ambassador to Yemen , Steven Fagin, aspects of cooperation and coordination between the two countries in the military and security fields, especially in the field of supporting the capabilities of the Yemeni armed forces and efforts to combat terrorism and smuggling.
In the meeting, Lieutenant General bin Aziz appreciated the positions of the United States in support of the Yemeni government, and its support for efforts to bring lasting peace to Yemen based on basic references, expressing his aspiration to strengthen and develop relations in the military and security aspects, especially in the field of combating terrorism and the field of training and rehabilitation to raise the efficiency of the Yemeni armed forces, including qualifying them to carry out their constitutional and national duties in maintaining security and stability, ending the rebellion, and imposing the option of permanent peace, which will only be achieved by restoring the Yemeni state and its institutions and ending the rebellion and terrorism.
The Chief of General Staff touched on the threats posed by the Houthi militia and terrorist groups to the security of Yemen and the region, the security of international navigation, and efforts to combat terrorism.
He stressed that Iran continues to supply the Houthi militias with advanced weapons, ballistic missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles, and sea mines produced by the Military Industrialization department of the Revolutionary Guards, praising the efforts made by the US Navy in combating smuggling and securing international navigation.
Lieutenant General bin Aziz pointed out that the experiences of the Yemenis in peace with the Houthi militia are bitter at various stages: The militia’s ideology is violence and racial discrimination; It does not believe in peace and coexistence; and its approach is rebellion against charters and covenants, pointing to the continuation of Houthi hostile operations on cities and public interests and Houthi attacks on army and resistance positions in light of the truce being sponsored by the United Nations and the international community.
