Member of the Presidential Leadership Council, Major General Aidaroos Al-Zubaidi, received yesterday evening the US Ambassador to Yemen, Steven Fagin.

The meeting discussed developments in the political, economic and military situation in Yemen in light of the escalation of the terrorist Houthi militia on all fronts and the blockage of the horizon for a political solution in the country.

In this regard, Al-Zubaidi renewed his call for the regional and international communities to take a decisive stance on the continued mobilization of militias, stressing the importance of supporting the Presidential Leadership Council to play its role in confronting any adventure that the Houthi militia may undertake, which rejects all efforts aimed at ending the war and establishing peace.

The meeting also discussed developments in the economic situation in the liberated governorates in light of the continuous collapse of the local currency rate as a result of the continued halt in oil exports following the Houthi attacks on oil installations in Shabwa and Hadramout.

In this context, Major General Al-Zubaidi stressed that the government needs urgent support that can carry out the tasks entrusted to it to revive the economic situation providing services to citizens and improving the humanitarian situation throughout the country.

The efforts of the security services to combat terrorism, weapons smuggling networks for the Houthi militia, and efforts to secure international shipping lines in the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandab and the Gulf of Aden were discussed.
In turn, the US ambassador renewed his country's position in support of the cohesion of the Presidential Leadership Council and the efforts of the UN Secretary-General's envoy to reach a just and sustainable peace that achieves security and stability in the region, affirming the US government's keenness to continue humanitarian support to Yemen and to enhance security support for the government in raising the capabilities of the counter-terrorism forces and security guards.
