The National Commission of Inquiry held a meeting today in Geneva with ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic missions of the European Union countries as part of the activities and meetings it is conducting on the sidelines of the sessions of the Human Rights Council.

In the meeting, which was attended by the head and members of the National Committee with representatives of the missions of the Netherlands, Portugal, France, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg and Belgium, and specialists in human rights departments in the missions, the assessment of the human rights situation in Yemen, recent developments and the impact of the implementation of the armistice on violations against civilians, and the Committee’s efforts to reach victims and investigate, were discussed.

The various violations that Yemen witnessed during the last period, and the role of the European Union in supporting it to continue its work in the coming period.

The representatives of the missions affirmed their appreciation for the serious work carried out by the commission in field investigation work and conducting direct interviews with witnesses and victims, and the impact of its work in addressing violations and gross violations of human rights, which puts the case of Yemen in a follow-up position as it is one of the priorities of the European Union.
