Yemen's Foreign Minister Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak concluded today his visit to the Kingdom of the Netherlands which lasted from 6-8 September 2021.
During his visit he met with the Dutch Foreign Minister Sigrid Kaag, Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Tom de Bruijn, Dutch humanitarian organizations working in Yemen and several political and media figures, writers and intellectuals as well as with the Arab ambassadors accredited to the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
During the visit, the Minister of Foreign Affairs gave a lecture at the Clingendael Institute and conducted media interviews with a number of Dutch newspapers.
At the meetings, H.E. Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak briefed Dutch officials about the developments in Yemen, reviewed with them the roots of the war caused by the Houthi militia, explained the reasons for the militia’s obstruction of the political process, and discussed the prospects for a political solution and the requested approach to be followed to reach a lasting and just peace in Yemen, affirming that the three references the Yemeni government adheres for political solution are considered to be basis for reaching a just and comprehensive peace towards achieving the equality among all Yemenis, renounce violence, restore the democratic system and election, and monopolize power only by the state. With that, the security and rights of all citizens will be guaranteed.
H.E. Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak reviewed the Iranian subversive role in Yemen and indicated that the Houthi militia's partnership with the Iranian agenda aimed at destabilizing the security and stability of Yemen and the Arab region as well as complicating the conflict. Adding that, the militia's political decision is confiscated by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, which hinders reaching a political solution to the conflict.
He stressed the government's keenness to provide full support to the UN Special Envoy Mr. Hans Grundberg and to work with him to reach a comprehensive ceasefire as the most important step to address the humanitarian, political and economic issues.
He reviewed the importance of addressing the financing gap in the humanitarian response plan; the continuity of the Houthi military aggression on Marib where displaced people live; and the Houthi recruitment of child soldiers.
