Foreign Minister Mohammed al-Hadrami held talks Sunday with the UN Special Envoy to Yemen Mr. Martin Griffiths.
They conferred over several topics relating to the peace process, namely Houthi militia military escalations on Marib and Aljawf governorates, Safer oil tanker, UN mission tasked with implementing Hodeidah agreement and Riyadh Agreement.
Al-Hadrami condemned Houthi militia's continuous military escalation against the two governorate of Marib and Aljwaf. He stated that Houthi militia has taken the advantage of Hodeidah agreement to intensify its combat operations in the fronts of Marib and Aljawf.
He made it clear that Hodeidah agreement has become useless and it is no longer accepted to allow the Houthis to exploit.
" The UN mission in support of Hoeidah agreement is still powerless, unable to do its job in accordance with the UNSCR 2452 because its movement is restricted by the Houthis", said al-Hadrami.
The Foreign Minister stated that the government can't continue to honor its obligations toward Hodeidah agreement if the Houthi do not allow the UN to do its mission.
The Foreign Minister stressed on the importance of handling Safer oil tanker as quickly as possible, asking the UNSC to mount pressure upon Houthi militia to allow the UN's technical team access the tanker and unload oil before it is too late.
Concerning to Riyadh Agreement, al-Hadrami stated that the government has acted constructively, carried out its obligations to accelerate the implementation of the agreement including assigning governor and chief of security in the temporary capital Aden and named the Head of the new government, started consultations to form it.
For his part, Mr. Griffiths confirmed that the UN is committed to act in line with the UNSCR resolutions in relevance to put an end of the Yemeni crisis and achieve the inclusive and sustainable.
He stated that tthe UN is very interested in getting a solution to Safer oil tanker.
