Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr Najeeb al-Aweg presided over a meeting held in the UNDP premises in the Jordanian capital Amman on Thursday.

The session included the Steering Committee of Livelihood Project in the Yemeni Countryside, Ambassador of the EU Mission to Yemen, Resident Representative of FAO in Yemen, representatives of the EU, WFP, ILO and UNDP .

The discussions focused on the project's activities carried out last year and the ones to be implemented in 2019. The project aims to create job-opportunity in the agricultural, fishery, water sectors, besides training and reducing poverty and unemployment among youths.

The $40 million project is funded by the EU. It covers the governorates of Hajah, Hodeidah, Lahj and Abyan. It is carried out by the UNDP and Social Development Fund and some civil society organizations.
