Minister of Fishery Wealth Fahd Kafayen discussed on Tuesday with the Resident Representative of Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) in Yemen Dr. Salah al-Haj mechanism of cooperation and fishery interventions in Yemen.

Kafayen reviewed a mechanism included list of priorities in field of emergency interventions for boosting livelihoods of inhabitants of coastal areas, mainly supporting fishermen with fishing tools, training fishery sector cadre and improving fish production.

He hoped for more support from FAO, renewing readiness of the ministry for facilitating procedures of implementing the organization's projects in coastal areas.

For his part, Dr. al-Haj renewed support of the organization for fishery sector in Yemen, confirming that FAO has made within its program for 2019 basic priorities for supporting fishery sector.

The support includes improving quality, training fishery cadre and supporting fishery studies, as well as supporting fishermen with fishing tools, protecting production and safety.
