The failure of the (Houthi) putschists to show up at the appointed time in Geneva is a clear sign of their intention to thwart any steps to bring peace, the government delegation in Geneva said.

The government's delegation arrived in Geneva last Wednesday a day ahead of the scheduled consultations brokered by the UN Special Envoy Martin Griffiths to end a three-year-long war between the government and the Iran-aligned putschists. As the Houthis did not show until Friday, the delegation issued a statement saying the militia deliberately created an excuse not to attend Geneva on the eve of the consultations.

The statement said that after the Geneva 1 talks and the Kuwait talks in all of which the government attended on time and engaged in positively, the government is again proving to the world that it is in favor of peace and that the Houthis keep creating excuses to avoid peace.

"After more than three years of war imposed by the Houthi rebels on the people and the consequences of that on humanitarian, political, economic, security and military levels, the putchists are still practicing the same reckless behavior," read the statement.
