The State of Emirate has confirmed firm commitment of the Saudi-led Coalition on shouldering responsibility on protecting all civilians, especially children in Yemen and proceeding with its efforts aiming at alleviating effects of conflict on them in coordination with the UN and international organizations.
The UAE Permanent Representative to the United Nations Lana Zakireviewed efforts of the Saudi-led Coalition to achieve this end in a release issued during holding the open discussion session held by the UN Security Council on Tuesday entitled "Protecting Children Today Bans Future Conflicts."
The release included coordination with the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict Virginia Gamba and establishing a specialized unit for protecting children in the region.
According to the UAE news agency, the UAE diplomat pointed to positive results accomplished by the coalition's for enhancing measures for protecting children in Yemen, including re-integrating children recruited by Houthis in their societies.
She expressed denounce of the UAE to all violations of the Humanitarian International Law by Houthis, who recruit children as soldiers, taking them as human shields and using them to plant ground mines.
