Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen Dr. Mohammad Zimam, along with Governor of Lahj General Ahmad al-Turki, launched on Sunday the branch of the CBY here after maintenance work cost YR. 230 million.

Zimam and officials in Lahj toured the facilities of the bank and inspected the ongoing work and exerted efforts for promoting its performance.

President Hadi gives special care to the central bank and its branches, said Governor of the CBY, who confirmed keenness of the bank leadership on promoting all branches of the bank and providing liquidity for ensuring funds transfer between Aden and Lahj within security plan.

He pointed out that CBY got financial grant from the United States worth USD 25 million for rehabilitating it, adding there are cooperation agreements between the bank and the Saudi Cash Corporation and central banks in Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon, as well as with US federal reserve in fields of training and qualification for training the staff of the CBY and its branches.

Zima highlights re-opening other private sector's banks in Lahj, saying the National Bank's branch will be opened within a month in the province.

After launching the bank's branch, Dr. Zimam held a meeting with the local authority and management of Lahj Central Bank's branch and discussed with them the operational mechanism of the bank and security measures needed for security it.

Zimam got acquainted with the nature of the work of the bank and its needs for preforming its duty as demanded.

He stressed on doubling efforts for promoting performance for accomplishing admirable objectives.
