PARIS - SABA
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Afrah al-Zouba held a press meeting today, Wednesday, in Paris with representatives from several media outlets and international news agencies, in which she highlighted the ongoing developments in Yemen, the Houthi military escalation, violations and the role of foreign experts in backing the militias' ongoing military operations.
Al-Zouba made it clear that security agencies have identified the identities of 21 foreign experts working directly with the Houthi terrorist militias, including 14 from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and 7 from the Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah, noting that they represent part of the experts supporting the militia’s military operations and terrorist attacks.
The use of Iranian Revolutionary Guard and Hezbollah members by the Houthi terrorist militias in their recent attacks reveals how deeply their military decisions are influenced by their Iranian sponsors and how they exploit Yemeni territory to carry out the Iranian regime’s agendas at the expense of Yemeni lives and security, the minister stressed.
She remarked that the role of these elements in planning, managing operations, and building the militia’s military capabilities has contributed to the escalation of attacks on civilians and civilian properties, resulting in deaths and forced displacement, and strengthened their ability to threaten neighboring countries and international navigation.
The Minister asserted that these blatant military interventions represent a clear violation of the sovereignty of the Republic of Yemen and international law, confirming that they have contributed to displacing over a quarter of a million people during the latest escalation and warned that the continued flow of weapons, technology and experts to the militia will increase the cost of deterring them in the future.
Al-Zouba highlighted the militias' ongoing attacks on civilians, civilian properties and infrastructure, as well as the militias' suffocating blockade of Taiz, which causes catastrophic humanitarian consequences, particularly for women, children, and those suffering from serious and incurable diseases.
She explained that the closure of health facilities and the prevention of medicine from entering, along with the militia’s refusal to open safe passages for civilians and patients to leave besieged areas, worsen the suffering of the population and lead to deaths among patients deprived of medical care.
Al-Zouba also cited the grave human rights violations committed by the militias including the recruitment of children and the intensive and random planting of anti-personnel mines, warning that their danger now exceeds, in both tools and scope, that of terrorist organizations like al-Qaeda and ISIS.
