WASHINGTON-SABA

Yemeni Ambassador Jamila Ali Raja discussed the humanitarian impact of the Houthi siege of Taiz and the need to resume US aid with senior US Senate Appropriations Committee staff member Paul Grove.

Ambassador Raja highlighted the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Taiz due to the Houthi militia’s siege and continued attacks, which have worsened civilian suffering, restricted movement, and hindered access to humanitarian aid and basic services.

She called for the unconditional lifting of the siege and the reopening of main roads and crossings to ensure freedom of movement and facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid and essential supplies.

Ambassador Raja stressed the urgent need to resume and increase US humanitarian assistance to address Yemen’s growing needs and support international efforts to achieve peace and stability.
