The third national seminar on Yemeni coffee was held today, Sunday, in the temporary capital, Aden, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation for the Agricultural Production Sector Eng. Abdulmalik Naji stated that the Ministry is keenly seeking to develop the coffee sector.

He added that within the framework of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) initiative "One Country, One Priority Product", the Ministry has adopted coffee as a strategic crop and it is working on expanding projects to develop its cultivation across various governorates.

The seminar, which is part of the project "Enhancing Biodiversity and Rural Community Resilience through Improving the Quality and Marketing of Coffee and Fruit in Yemen", featured contributions and discussions from farmers and specialists.

The deliberations focused on providing improved seedlings, strengthening agricultural guidance, improving water management, developing post-harvest services, adhering to quality and food safety standards, as well as boosting export opportunities and opening new international markets for Yemeni coffee.
