Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Shaya Zindani received Tuesday a delegation from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), headed by the Director of the Crisis Response Division Edem Wosornu.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the latest developments in the current humanitarian situation and discussed ways to strengthen partnership and coordination between the government and UN organizations to improve the efficiency of crisis response, as well as transition from emergency relief efforts to supporting sustainable development projects.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister welcomed the UN delegation, praising the vital role played by OCHA in supporting government efforts to alleviate humanitarian suffering.

He affirmed the government’s full commitment to providing all necessary facilities and overcoming obstacles facing humanitarian teams to ensure that aid reaches the most vulnerable groups in various areas.

The Prime Minister and Foreign Minister highlighted the importance of mobilizing further international support to fund the humanitarian response plan, stressing the need to focus on sustainable-impact projects that contribute to improving basic services and promoting economic stability.

For her part, the Director of the Crisis Response Division at the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reviewed OCHA’s programs and humanitarian plans for the coming period.

She affirmed the United Nations’ commitment to continuing support for humanitarian efforts in Yemen and working in partnership with the government and international partners to ensure a more effective response to humanitarian needs and expand interventions aimed at protecting the most vulnerable groups.
