A national workshop entitled “Towards a Strategic Framework for Combating Corruption to Support Recovery Efforts in Yemen” was launched here on Sunday.

The workshop is organized by the Prime Minister’s technical team in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), with the participation of several ministers and representatives from judicial, oversight, and security bodies, along with a group of international experts.

The two-day workshop aims to develop a comprehensive national strategic framework that strengthens anti-corruption efforts and is closely linked to priorities for economic recovery and institutional reform.

This is expected to enhance the efficiency of state institutions and build trust among citizens and international partners.

In his opening speech, Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Shaya Zindani emphasized the importance of adopting an integrated institutional approach to combating corruption, considering it a key entry point for boosting economic recovery and establishing stability.

He stressed the need to enhance coordination among all relevant entities, integrate their roles, and activate mechanisms to protect public funds in order to achieve tangible and sustainable results.

He noted that these efforts come within the framework of implementing the government’s reform program and strengthening the principles of transparency and accountability, affirming that the government is moving forward with developing regulatory and legislative frameworks that support integrity and anti-corruption efforts.

The workshop also addressed existing institutional efforts led by issuance of Prime Ministerial Decree No. (34) of 2025, which established a coordination and follow-up committee among judicial, oversight, and security bodies to combat corruption.

The committee holds regular meetings to monitor the implementation of its tasks.

The committee’s responsibilities include following up on corruption-related cases, submitting recommendations to strengthen institutional prevention, and coordinating efforts among judicial, oversight, and security entities to ensure integrated and expedited procedures.
