Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Shadi Basurah met Sunday with the Director of the Office of the UN Special Envoy to Yemen Bert Scott and the accompanying delegation.
The two parties discussed latest developments in the country and ways to enhance joint coordination in support of stability and economic recovery efforts.
The meeting addressed the challenges facing the government, particularly in the telecommunications and internet sectors.
Minister Basurah affirmed that the ministry is working in line with the government’s priority program and plans aimed at strengthening recovery and implementing economic, financial, service, and institutional reforms.
He also reviewed the ministry’s vision and plan for the current phase, as well as the development strategies it has adopted to advance the telecommunications and information technology sectors.
The Minister of Communications praised the role of the UN Envoy’s Office and the efforts it is making to achieve peace and stability in the country, reiterating the government’s readiness to facilitate the work of the envoy’s office team and overcome any difficulties that may face its mission.
For his part, the Director of the UN Envoy’s Office reviewed the efforts being made by the envoy and his office in Aden to support the peace process and facilitate coordination with relevant government authorities.
He emphasized the UN envoy’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with the Yemeni government across various tracks in order to advance the peace process in Yemen.
