The Operations Room of Masam Project for Landmine Clearance – Yemen has announced that the project’s teams succeeded during the first week of March in removing 1,263 landmines, unexploded ordnance and improvised explosive devices from various areas across Yemen.

According to a statement issued by the operations room and published by the Masam Media Office, the project’s special task teams and on-duty units removed 1,227 pieces of unexploded ordnance in addition to 33 anti-tank mines and 3 anti-personnel mines during the past week.

The statement added that the project’s special task teams also cleared an estimated of 8,200 square meters of land during the same period as part of ongoing efforts to secure areas affected by war remnants.

In the same context, the operations room reported that since the beginning of its work in Midi District, the project’s teams have removed a total of 8,253 mines, unexploded ordnance and explosive devices, as part of its continuous operations to eliminate threats posed by mines to civilians.

Meanwhile, the project’s General Director Osama Al-Gosaibi announced that since its launch in late June 2018 until March 6 of this year Masam teams have removed 547,215 mines, unexploded ordnance and explosive devices.

Al-Gosaibi explained in a statement published by the Masam Media Office that during the same period the project’s field teams removed 381,229 pieces of unexploded ordnance, as well as 8,405 improvised explosive devices planted by militias in different parts of the country.

He added that the teams also cleared 150,473 anti-tank mines and 7,108 anti-personnel mines, as part of ongoing efforts to reduce the danger mines pose to civilians.

Al-Gosaibi further noted that since the project’s launch until March 6, 2026, Masam teams have cleared 77,955,570 square metersof land in Yemen, contributing to securing large areas that were contaminated with mines and remnants of war.
