ADEN-SABA
His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, called on the Yemeni people to seize a pivotal moment of transition and align behind a vision for rebuilding a state that protects rights, safeguards dignity, and offers hope to future generations.
In a nationally televised address marking the advent of the holy month of Ramadan, delivered on his behalf by Minister of Endowments and Guidance Sheikh Turki al-Wadi’i, President al-Alimi extended congratulations to the Yemeni people at home and abroad.
He expressed hope that the blessed month would usher in stability and progress, alongside the restoration of state institutions, an end to the coup, and relief from years of suffering.
The President said Yemen now stands at a decisive crossroads between a conflict-burdened past and a more promising phase marked by gradual institutional recovery. He cited recent improvements in the functioning of state institutions, basic services, and sovereign decision-making, as well as the formation of a new government tasked with driving comprehensive reform.
“Our battle,” he said, “is not only against an armed coup project, but against everything that threatens the very idea of the state — against chaos, uncontrolled weapons, corruption, and the diversion of resources outside national institutions.”
President al-Alimi voiced confidence that the new government headed by Prime Minister Dr. Shaya Zindani would rise to the challenge, pledging practical steps to strengthen state authority, regulate public revenues, empower the Central Bank to manage monetary policy, stabilize the national currency, ensure regular salary payments, and improve essential services. He acknowledged that reform would be demanding, but described economic and service stability as central to restoring state institutions.
The President reaffirmed the leadership’s full commitment to addressing the Southern Issue as a cornerstone of a comprehensive political settlement. He stressed the need to recognize and fairly resolve the issue, guaranteeing people the right to determine their future freely and responsibly under the framework of a sovereign state governed by law.
He expressed confidence that intra-southern dialogue, to be sponsored by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, could mark a turning point through inclusive and responsible consultations that prioritize national interest over factional considerations and reinforce state authority over armed force.
President al-Alimi also underscored the depth of Yemeni-Saudi partnership, praising the Kingdom’s leadership — led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, and Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz — for their continued support.
He described the partnership as strategic and enduring, rooted in geography, shared security, and common destiny, and as a foundation for reconstruction and long-term development.
On the humanitarian front, the President directed relevant authorities to immediately release prisoners who have served three-quarters or half of their sentences, excluding those convicted of terrorism, smuggling, and drug-related offenses. He also called for reviewing commercial bail options for detainees held in private rights cases, forming provincial committees to assist insolvent detainees, and expediting the closure of unlawful detention facilities.
He urged religious leaders, media figures, and political actors to adopt responsible discourse, reject incitement, respect differences, and prioritize national unity. He called on philanthropists, business leaders, and the private sector to intensify support for vulnerable families during Ramadan, emphasizing that solidarity strengthens nations in times of hardship.
Addressing citizens in areas under Houthi militia control, President al-Alimi affirmed that the state would not abandon its people anywhere in the country. “Restoring Sana’a and a just, united Yemen will remain our shared national objective,” he said, “no matter how long the suffering endures.”
He concluded by expressing hope that Ramadan would mark the beginning of a broader breakthrough toward victory and a just peace capable of fulfilling the aspirations of the Yemeni people.
