His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, affirmed that the new government has no option but to work decisively to “set the example,” achieve the desired transformation, restore public confidence in state institutions, and defeat the racist project of the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militia.

Chairing on Monday the first meeting of the newly formed government following the constitutional oath, President al-Alimi stressed the importance of building on recent improvements in basic services achieved over the past weeks with generous support from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and protecting these gains by all means. He said that setting the example and restoring the confidence of citizens, as well as that of brothers and friends, is an integral part of the national battle and not a separate track.

At the outset of the meeting, the President, on behalf of himself and his fellow members of the Presidential Leadership Council, congratulated the Prime Minister and cabinet members on earning confidence, praising their acceptance of the heavy national responsibility during this exceptional phase.

He also expressed appreciation to former Prime Minister Salem bin Breik for presenting a model of institutional discipline and quiet work during one of the most difficult periods, commending as well the efforts of ministers who left office for their service to the state.

President al-Alimi explained that the new government is not merely a change of names, but carries a clear message aimed at strengthening broader national partnership and gradually transferring decision-making to a new generation of Yemenis “on whom we are betting to lead the future.”

He emphasized that responsibility is doubled for youth and women ministers, not only to ensure success, but to set an example, open the way for successive generations, and build a sustainable partnership path. “We all realize the task is not easy,” he said, “but you have only one choice: work… then work… then work.”

The President noted that the current circumstances cannot be managed with traditional thinking, but rather through innovative approaches, thinking outside the box, and turning scarce resources from an obstacle into a driver for change.

He highlighted the strategic partnership with Saudi Arabia, stressing that Yemen is part of a broader regional vision for stability and development, and that relations with the Kingdom are not emotional but represent Yemen’s safe path to the future, grounded in shared interests, destiny, and security.

In this context, President al-Alimi renewed his deep thanks and appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, led by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Minister of Defense Prince Khalid bin Salman, and the Saudi people for their continued support for the Yemeni people and their political leadership across various fields.

He stressed the government’s responsibility to set the example, including making Aden a true capital of the state, noting that making a real difference depends on three pillars: economic and administrative reforms, security and the rule of law, and services.

On the economic front, President al-Alimi underscored that developing resources is a priority no less important than the military front and a key condition for changing the balance of power on the ground.

He said the battle today is not only against militias that staged a coup against the state, but also against accumulated imbalances, expanding poverty, exhausting inflation, and the erosion of trust in institutions’ ability to manage resources fairly and efficiently.
