Minister of Public Health and Population in the caretaker government, Dr. Qassem Buhaybeh, on Wednesday discussed with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Yemen, Jeannette Seppen, ways to strengthen support for the country’s health sector and enhance joint cooperation to address the challenges it currently faces.

During the meeting, held in the Jordanian capital Amman, Dr. Buhaybeh reviewed the most pressing challenges confronting the health system, including chronic funding shortages, the spread of epidemics and pandemics, weak institutional and infrastructure capacities, a lack of qualified personnel, and the continued migration of health workers—factors that collectively place a heavy burden on the provision of health services to citizens.

The minister outlined efforts undertaken by the Ministry of Health in recent years to address these challenges and propose viable solutions, notably through mobilizing and directing the efforts of health partners toward sector priorities agreed upon during the Strategic Dialogue Conference held in November 2025.
