Prime Minister Salem Saleh bin Braik received Wednesday the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Yemen Thomas Schneider.
They discussed bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and their development prospects in various fields, in addition to discussing the latest developments in the situation and the government's efforts to implement reforms and achieve living stability.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister welcomed the new German ambassador, wishing him success in his duties, which will contribute to strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Yemen and Germany.
He praised Germany's continued support for Yemen in the areas of relief and development, and Germany's firm stances alongside the Yemeni government and people in confronting current humanitarian and economic challenges.
The Prime Minister stressed that the government is proceeding with implementing the comprehensive economic reform plan approved by the Presidential Leadership Council, with the aim of correcting the course of public finances, improving the efficiency of resource management, and restoring confidence in the national economy.
He pointed out that the government pays great attention to strengthening partnerships with supporting countries, led by Germany, to move from the stage of humanitarian relief to the stage of sustainable development and institution building.
He also reviewed the government's efforts to normalize the situation in the temporary capital, Aden and the liberated governorates, including improving public services, activating state institutions, and alleviating the suffering of citizens in light of the difficult circumstances imposed by the war sparked by the terrorist Houthi militias.
He stressef that international support, especially from European partners, constitutes a fundamental pillar for the success of these efforts.
For his part, Ambassador Schneider conveyed to the Prime Minister the greetings of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and the German government, and their keenness to continue supporting the government in achieving security and stability and strengthening state institutions. Pointing out that his country is closely following developments in Yemen and appreciates the government's efforts in economic reforms and improving resource management.
He confirmed that Germany will continue its support for Yemen in accordance with the priorities set by the government, and support efforts to achieve peace.
