His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) received today, Thursday, at al-Ma'shiq Palace, in the temporary capital Aden, the crediting documents of a number of the newly appointed Ambassadors including:
The Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Ihab Ahmed Abu Srie, the Ambassador of Federal Republic of Germany, Thomas Friedrich, the Ambassador of the European Union, Patrick Simonnet, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Mohamed Lemine Ibrahim and the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Brazil, Paulo Uchôa Ribeiro Filho.
Following the ceremony of receiving credentials, the President held separate meetings with the newly appointed Ambassadors, who conveyed the greetings of their countries' leaders to His Excellency, and their wishes for his good health and happiness, and for the Yemeni people security, stability, and peace.
President al-Alimi welcomed the accredited Ambassadors to the Republic of Yemen, promising them all necessary facilities they may need to perform their duties, further strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing common interests with their friendly countries.
The Chairman of the PLC updated the Ambassadors on the developments in the Yemeni national arena, citing the government's and the Central Bank's efforts aiming to boost the economic, financial and monetary reforms as well as to improve basic services and living conditions.
His Excellency touched on the regional developments related to the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, praising the sincere efforts led by the Arab Republic of Egypt, the State of Qatar, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United States of America and other friendly countries in achieving this historic accomplishment.
President al-Alimi made it clear that sustainable peace in the region will remain contingent on ending the hotbeds of terrorism and expansionist projects that threaten the security and stability of the region and the world.
In this context, he called on the international community to join the decision to designate the Houthi militias as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO), to form an international coalition to combat their terrorism and serious human rights violations and to deter their cross-border threats.
The Chairman of the PLC highlighted the importance of maintaining the unity of the international community regarding the Yemeni situation, and the Council and the government's keenness to have close partnership with brothers and friends in order to build comprehensive peace according to its national, regional and international references, particularly Resolution 2216.
