Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awadh bin Mubarak has directed the implementation of several urgent solutions to address power outages in Aden.

This includes supplying power generation stations with the necessary petroleum derivatives for operation and overcoming existing issues in this regard to alleviate citizens' suffering.

This came during the Prime Minister's field visit Wednesday to the President's power generation station in al-Buraiqa district of the temporary capital Aden to inspect its operations, the difficulties it faces, and the distribution of electricity and fuel supplies.

He listened to explanations from the station's workers about the reasons for the increased hours of power outages and the station's inability to operate at full capacity due to fuel shortages, as well as the required amounts to function at full production capacity, which would help enhance generation capabilities and contribute to service stability.

They noted the increased loads on electrical power during the summer period.

Following that, Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awadh bin Mubarak chaired a joint meeting at the station's headquarters with the leadership of the Ministry of Oil and Finance, the Public Electricity Corporation, and Aden Electricity, to discuss the current status of the electrical system comprehensively and the challenges it faces, as well as the complementary roles needed for stabilizing electricity service and alleviating citizens' suffering.

The meeting approved several urgent measures to supply power generation stations in Aden with their fuel needs, increase quantities, ensure continuity of transport, and carry out maintenance work. It also called for the immediate implementation of agreements reached among ministries, companies, and relevant parties to urgently resolve existing issues.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of exerting maximum efforts and working as a unified team to address the electricity problem and alleviate citizens' suffering. He stressed that everyone must assume their responsibilities and fulfill their duties, noting that the suffering of the people should not be turned into political issues away from the real situation.

He pointed out that the time for exchanging accusations has passed, and serious action is required to establish and implement urgent solutions and quick alternatives to ease citizens' hardships.

Dr. bin Mubarak directed that responsibilities be clearly defined and accountability enforced for any shortcomings from any party.

He emphasized the need for everyone to be aware of citizens' suffering and for every official to perform their duties with integrity and dedication, making exceptional efforts to reduce the existing deficit in electricity generation.

He reaffirmed the government's commitment to fulfilling its obligations within the available resources to improve electricity service in Aden and the liberated provinces.

He expressed full understanding of citizens' suffering and anger due to long power service interruptions resulting from a significant backlog that has accumulated over many years due to the failure to address this issue correctly. He pledged to continue the reforms initiated in the electricity sector to ensure service sustainability according to strategic plans, rather than temporary solutions that create substantial burdens on the state.

The Prime Minister confirmed ongoing communication with allies in the Coalition to Support Legitimacy, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, to provide urgent support in petroleum derivatives.
