BANGKOK-SABA
The non-resident Ambassador of Yemen to the Kingdom of Thailand Dr. Adel Bahumaid discussed with the Thai National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) latest developments in Yemen amid terrorist Houthi militias' escalation in the Red Sea and their aggressive practices against the Yemeni people.
Ambassador Bahumaid reviewed the special report on the political and humanitarian crisis caused by the coup of the terrorist Houthi militia against the constitutional legitimacy and its official institutions.
The report addressed all the violations committed and still being committed by the militias against human rights in various fields, which calls for more cooperation and coordination between all competent and interested parties in human rights around the world.
He emphasized the importance of opening channels of communication and coordination between the Thai National Human Rights Commission and the Yemeni National Mechanism for Human Rights, represented by the National Commission to Investigate Alleged Human Rights Violations.
Ambassador Bahumaid also touched on the official position of the legitimate government regarding the escalation and attacks on the Red Sea, which pose a major threat to the freedom of international navigation and cause serious damage to the marine and environmental life in the region.
He explained that the Houthi claims and justifications for these hostile acts, claiming that they come in support of the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, are untrue, and constitute a new episode of the false claims that the terrorist group has become accustomed to in order to mislead public opinion locally and internationally.
He affirmed the firm position of the Yemeni government and people in supporting the Palestinian cause and supporting it by all means, and their support for all efforts to stop the ethnic cleansing and genocide practiced by the Zionist occupation in the Gaza Strip and all the occupied Palestinian territories.
For her part, the Chairperson of the Thai National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) affirmed the Commission's position against all forms of human rights violations, expressing the Commission's readiness to open horizons of cooperation with the Yemeni National Mechanism for Human Rights, represented by the Yemeni National Commission in the field of exchanging information and reports, updating databases.
She also confirmed developing capacities and qualifying national cadres in the field of human rights and coordinating common positions of the two human rights bodies.
