Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awadh bin Mubarak has directed the formation of a committee comprising ministries and relevant authorities to prepare a draft regulation regarding the weights of cargo trucks on roads, taking into account the balance between the interests of the private sector while preserving the roads and providing the necessary resources.

The draft regulation will be discussed with the Chambers of Commerce and Industry in preparation for its submission to the Council of Ministers for necessary action.

The Prime Minister emphasized during his meeting Wednesday with the Ministers of Public Works and Roads Salem Al-Harizi, and Governor of Aden Ahmed Lamlas, as well as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Road and Bridges Maintenance Fund, Maeen al-Mas, and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Rashid Hazeb the need to consider the interests of the private sector and provide an attractive environment for investment, while also safeguarding the rights of the state.

He reiterated the importance of forming a strategic partnership with the private sector and granting preferential advantages to encourage local industries.

He also emphasized the importance of proper implementation of government decisions and providing a conducive environment for investment and private sector activities.

He stressed the need for the regulation, once adopted, to be implemented in all liberated provinces and not limited to the capital Aden only.

The meeting discussed a number of perspectives and ideas in light of complaints submitted by the private sector regarding the issue of weights, and the committee was urged to take these complaints into consideration when preparing the draft regulation.
