The Yemeni Coast Guard discussed Thursday ways to enhance cooperation with the International Organization for Migration.

The meeting, attended by the Director General of the Office of the Chief of the Coast Guard, Brigadier General Abdul Salam Abu Shama, and the Acting Head of the International Organization for Migration Mission in Yemen, Matt Hopper, addressed the role of the Coast Guard in combating illegal migration and the tasks and activities carried out by the Coast Guard in dealing with irregular cases in accordance with international agreements and protocols.

It also highlighted its responsibilities in combating smuggling in all its forms and protecting regional waters from all potential risks.

The meeting emphasized the importance of enhancing the capabilities of the Coast Guard, improving its material equipment, and qualifying its human resources to enhance its readiness to carry out its tasks.

The Head of the International Organization for Migration Mission in Yemen praised the efforts exerted by the Yemeni Coast Guard in combating crime, stressing the need to support them with available resources to enhance their technical, professional, and specialized work.
