ADEN-SABA
The Republic of Yemen has welcomed the decision taken by the U.S.A. administration about designating Houthi militias as a Global Terrorist Group.
In a statement learned by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the Yemeni Government confirmed that the U.S. decision is in consistent with the Yemeni government's designation of this group as a" Terrorist Organization" in line with the Yemeni laws and it comes as a response to the government's constant calls for the international community to earnestly act to protect the Yemeni people from the oppression and terrorism of these terrorist militias.
The statement reads" Since the ominous coup d'état carried out by these militias against the Yemeni people's will and the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference up to this moment and amid the lack of a genuine deterrence, these militias have never ceased to exercise the terrorism, carrying out the most gruesome crimes and violations against the Yemenis through bombing houses and worship buildings, prosecuting religious minorities, forcefully displacing opponents and activists who are critical of the militias' practices, confiscating their properties, arresting and torturing journalists, political activists, besieging cities, planting landmines and marine mines, threatening international shipping lanes, using health and educational facilities for military purposes, and the civilians as human shields, and ruining the economic corporations in Yemen".
The statement added" The Yemeni Government reiterates its confirmation that to establish peace in Yemen, the Houthi militias must abandon its terrorist approach and its loyalty to the Iranian regime, renounce violence and accept the peace proposals, including the proposed road map by the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and all good offices to maintain the security and stability of Yemen and the region".
