Prime Minister Dr. Ma'een Abdulmalik received today, Monday, in the interim capital Aden Head of the EU Mission in Yemen Gabriel Munuera Vinals, French and Dutch Ambassadors Katharine Corm Kammoun and Jennette Seppen.

They conferred over topical issues including the Yemeni government's reforms program and its efforts to manage the economic hardships, humanitarian challenges and improve basic services, regional and international efforts to end war, establish peace and the EU's role in upcoming period.

Dr. Ma'een updated the European diplomats about the latest developments relating to the mediation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia aimed to establish a permanent cease-fire, initiate an inclusive political process to bring the end of the war, reach a political settlement that ensures a fair and sustainable peace in the country.

He reiterated the government's full support to the ongoing efforts of Saudi Arabia and the Special Envoy of the UN to Yemen to resume the political process." We are staunchly supporting the Saudi meditation and the UN-led good offices to renew the truce, launching an inclusive political process under auspices of the UN" said Ma'een.

The Prime Minister detailed the European Ambassadors on the government's plans and efforts to handle the economic challenges and carry out the needed financial and managerial reforms, citing the progress made and the difficulties need to be overcome.

He said" We have been keenly pursuing a reformative program aimed to improve public revenues, control corruption and correct mismanagement', adding "We have realized quite progress, yet there is still much need to be done to bring the desirable outcomes".

Ma'een touched upon the Houthi militias' recent maritime piracy actions, underscoring the perilous implications of such terrorist operations that are seriously risking the international marine navigation, badly affecting the Yemeni economy, disturbing regional and international security.

He highlighted Yemen's need for the EU's continuous support for the government's economic reforms." We' are looking forward to a greater role by the EU to sustain the government's efforts to effectively implement the planned reforms", said Ma'een.

The Prime Minister called on the EU to transfer the funds of its humanitarian and development assistance into the Central Bank of Yemen in the temporary capital Aden in order to support the government's efforts to manage the economic hardships.

The European diplomats confirmed their full support for the internationally recognized government's efforts to carry out the needed reforms.

They also renewed their supportive stance in support of the peace efforts to establish peace in Yemen through an inclusive political settlement to ensure peace and stability in Yemen and the region.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Ahmed BinMubarak contributed to the conversations.
