Speaker of Parliament Sultan al-Barakani met today, Thursday, with the Special Envoy of the United States to Yemen Timothy Lenderking and the American Ambassador Steven Fagin to discuss the ongoing developments in the Yemeni national arena, regional and international efforts to end Houthi militias' war, alleviate the humanitarian suffering and the prospects to establish peace and stability in Yemen.

A range of topical issues were discussed during the meeting including the efforts have been made by the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to establish the fair and comprehensive peace in Yemen through specific road map in which the main issues are clearly singled out and precisely timetabled.

Al-Barakani has made it clear that what the Yemeni people need is a peace that eliminates the coup, ensures restoring the state's institutions and not merely a temporary truce which the Houthis exploit to prepare for new wars on the Yemeni people.

The Speaker of the Parliament voiced deep appreciation to the American envoy for his good offices he has been doing to revive the peace process and establish peace in Yemen.

He highly praised the US administration's supportive stances in support of the Yemeni people and its significant contribution to the humanitarian actions to alleviate the Yemeni people suffering, restore the state's institutions and establish peace, stability and development.

The American envoy stressed that it is very important to reach an inclusive political settlement, noting that there is a chance for a peace process. He confirmed that a Yemeni-Yemeni negotiations and a comprehensive truce is their own main goal.

For his part the American Ambassador confirmed his administration's continuous support for Yemen in different fields, reiterating Washington's support for the unity of Yemen, its stability and its territorial integrity.
