His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, along with the member of the Presidential Council Aidarous al-Zubaidi met today, Tuesday, with the Director of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Achim Steiner, on the sideline of the 78th Session of the UN General Assembly.

The discussions dealt with the UN's developmental interventions in different fields and the coordinated efforts to mobilize more finances to the most sustainable and effective programs to allay the suffering of the Yemeni people created by the Houthi militias.

President al-Alimi praised the significant role of the UNDP in the development and construction drive in Yemen, citing the UNDP's recent efforts to handle the problem of Safer Tanker and its humanitarian interventions to mitigate the tough implications of the war which was triggered by Iran-backed Houthi militias.

His Excellency also praised the UN's attitudes to move from relief actions into the sustainable development projects.

The UN's official cited the UNDP's interventions particularly in the domains of electricity, clean energy, water and environment , repair the seaports and support for the sustainable developments in different fields.
