PORT SUDAN-SABA
The Yemeni Embassy in Sudan held a media briefing in Port Sudan on Wednesday for a number of Sudanese journalists, media professionals, and directors of television channels, radio stations and news websites on developments in Yemen and the escalation and violations committed by the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militia.
The briefing addressed the repercussions of the Houthi escalation on Yemen's security and stability, the region, the Red Sea and international navigation.
Chargé d'Affaires of the Yemeni Embassy Dr. Abdulhaq Yaqoub reviewed developments in Yemen and stressed the media's role in providing information from reliable sources and raising public awareness of national and regional issues.
Yaqoub highlighted the deep-rooted historical and fraternal ties between the Yemeni and Sudanese peoples, recalling Sudan's significant support for Yemen and its positions since 2015 in support of Yemen's legitimate government, which he said would remain deeply appreciated by the Yemeni people.
He said the continued crimes and violations committed by the Houthi militia against the Yemeni people pose a threat to Yemen's security and stability and the wider region.
He also highlighted Iranian support for the Houthis and their escalation in the Red Sea, including attacks on commercial vessels and threats to international shipping, warning of the resulting risks to the security of the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandeb Strait and Gulf of Aden, as well as global trade and energy flows.
