ADEN-SABA
Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Qassem Buhaibeh has ordered tighter oversight of public and private health facilities across the country's governorates as part of efforts to improve healthcare standards, protect public health, and enforce compliance with national health regulations.
In a circular received by Saba, the minister instructed health authorities to carry out regular and surprise inspections of healthcare facilities to ensure they meet licensing and technical requirements, employ qualified medical personnel, comply with quality and patient safety standards, and implement effective infection prevention and control measures.
He also directed health authorities to strengthen pharmaceutical inspections to curb the sale and distribution of smuggled, unregistered, and expired medicines, stressing that legal action must be taken against facilities found in violation of the law. Provincial health offices were instructed to submit monthly reports outlining inspection findings and enforcement measures.
The circular further called for closer monitoring of healthcare service fees and medicine prices, alongside enhanced coordination with the Supreme Board of Drugs, local authorities, security agencies, and judicial bodies to improve regulatory enforcement across the health sector.
Dr. Buhaibeh said the measures are intended to safeguard public health, raise the standard of healthcare services, and reinforce professional and legal compliance throughout the country's health system.
