The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Albudaiwi has expressed his appreciation for the position conveyed by members of the United Nations Security Council in their presidential statement regarding the attacks carried out by the Houthi terrorist militia against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

In a statement, Albudaiwi said that the Security Council’s condemnation of these attacks sends a clear international message rejecting the continued targeting of the Kingdom and its national assets, as well as threats to maritime security and international trade routes.

He emphasized that the significance of the statement lies in reaffirming the international community’s responsibility to put an end to these violations and to prevent the Houthi militia from continuing to obtain weapons and support that fuel its attacks.

He also noted that the full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2216 (2015) constitutes an international obligation that must be fulfilled, contributing to ending these practices that threaten the security and stability of the region.

The Secretary-General further noted that the GCC regards the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a fundamental pillar of the collective Gulf security system. He stressed that GCC member states stand united and resolutely alongside the Kingdom, supporting all measures it takes to defend its sovereignty, safeguard its security and protect its citizens and residents.
