RIYADH - SABA
His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) met today, Sunday, with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom (UK) to the Republic of Yemen Abda Sharif.

Yemeni-British bilateral cooperation and the developments in the Yemeni national arena were discussed.

The President expressed gratitude to the UK government for its supportive stances in supporting the PLC and the Yemeni government, highly appreciating the British significant contribution to the humanitarian and development actions.

"We greatly valued London's constant support for the regional and international efforts aimed to establish stability, support the economic reforms in Yemen", he said.

His Excellency stated that he is very keen to further to strengthen the partnership with the UK, given that it is a pen-bearer in the Security Council and an influential partner in supporting the Yemeni state, international navigation security and regional stability.

The President highlighted the importance of seizing the current moment for addressing the grass-roots of the Iranian threat, not just containing its immediate repercussions.

He stressed that that the world needs to adopt an approach based on sustainable gains in security and stability, rather than merely managing temporary crises.

A decisive action is imperative to close the file on agents and armed organizations affiliated with Tehran in the region, as they are considered the most dangerous tool for undermining national states, extorting the global economy and threatening international corridors, the President stressed.

President al-Alimi reaffirmed the PLC's and the government's support for any genuine effort to de-escalate and achieve sustainable peace, which cannot be realized without addressing the sources of danger from land and sea, and ending the threat of cross-border militias.

The Chairman of the PLC also touched on the recent security developments, including assassination crimes targeting civilian figures.

"These operations primarily aimed to undermine the trust of citizens and international partners in the government-held governorates, he noted.
