The Yemeni Ambassador to Russia, Dr. Ahmed al-Wuhayshi, met with the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Sergey Vershinin, to discuss the latest political developments in Yemen and recent consultations in the UN Security Council.
Al-Wuhayshi briefed Vershinin on the situation regarding the Houthi militia's continued detention of UN and NGO staff, as well as civil society members.
He highlighted the UN Special Envoy's appeal to the Security Council to pressure the Houthis to cease their arbitrary actions, abductions, and enforced disappearances against aid workers and Yemeni civilians.
Vershinin reaffirmed Russia's support for UN efforts to achieve peace in Yemen and emphasized the importance of humanitarian organizations in the country, calling for the facilitation of their work.
