WASHINTON-SABA
Canada and Mexico have announced they will impose tariffs on US products in response to similar measures announced by US President Donald Trump against the two countries.

Outgoing Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said in statements that his country will impose tariffs of 25 percent starting next Tuesday on a total of $125 billion in US products and goods in response to Trump's measures.

Canada is also considering other non-tariff measures related to energy purchases and other partnerships to respond to the US decision," he added, noting that Canada and Mexico are working together to confront US tariffs.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum announced the imposition of tariff measures to defend her country's interests, hours after Trump issued an executive order imposing new tariffs on Canada, Mexico and China.
