Ministers Bin Bureik, Badhib discuss with Paris Club economic hardships, financial reforms

Ministers of Finance Salim bin Bureik and Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Wa'id Badhib held discussions today, Friday, in Paris with the members of the General Secretariat of Paris Club creditors headed by Club Secretary-General Philippe Dupera over th developments about the economic hardships and harsh humanitarian situations in Yemen and the government's efforts to improve public situations.

The Minister of Finance touched upon the government's efforts and the package of financial and economic reforms to qualify Yemen for the upcoming debt suspension initiative under the joint framework of the G20 countries.

Bin Bureik stressed that it is very important to start coordinating with the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund in order to complete the study of debts sustainability before rescheduling them and signing the next extension agreement.

For his part, Minister Badhib touched on the efforts of the Ministry of Planning to provide technical assistance to the authorities charged with preparing a database of public debt, analyzing the ability to bear debts, building capacities to manage the debts and the capabilities of monetary policy makers.

The Paris Club General Secretariat team affirmed the continuation of closely coordination with the Yemeni government and creditors from the Paris Club and the G20 for the constant implementation of the requirements of the debt suspension and extension initiative.
